Alternatively, there’s the simpler version with a Core i5-12450H processor, 8GB of RAM, and the same 512GB SSD, for £749.99.
Now, let’s talk size. A 16-inch display is no joke, and fitting it into a compact, easy-to-carry design is quite the challenge. The MateBook D 16 measures 356.7mm in width, 248.7mm in depth, and 18.4mm in thickness, weighing in at 1.7kg. It fits snugly into my backpack and doesn’t feel overly heavy, though some may find it a tad bulky.

Thus, putting resources into a protective sleeve for the added inward feeling of harmony may be insightful.

However, with a maximum brightness of 300 nits and a resolution of 1920 by 1200 pixels, outdoor visibility and sharpness may be somewhat compromised. Audio-wise, the speakers deliver decent sound quality, while the 1080p webcam boasts an AI Camera feature for enhanced video calls. Unfortunately, there’s no support for face recognition.
Moving toward input, the keyboard gives a comfortable typing experience, complete with a helpful number pad. However, the proximity of the Enter key to the number pad may take some getting used to.
