Does your iPad keep showing your iPhone text messages? It can be annoying! This guide explains how to easily unlink your devices in a few steps so you can keep your messages separate.
How To Unlink iPad and iPhone Text Messages
- Tired of Text Messages Popping Up on Both Your iPhone and iPad? Here’s How to Fix It!
- Ever open your iPad to check messages and see a bunch meant for your iPhone? It can be annoying, especially if your iPad fills up with texts you don’t need.
- The good news is, it’s easy to stop your iPhone texts from going to your iPad automatically. This is the way to do it in a couple of basic advances:
Why Does This Happen?
- By default, Apple devices that share the same Apple ID can show your messages on all of them. This can be handy for some people, but it can also get confusing and clutter your devices.
- Unlinking Your Devices To fix this, we can turn off a feature called “Text Message Forwarding” on your iPhone.
Here’s what to do:
- Snatch your iPhone and open the Settings application.
- Tap on your name at the top. This opens the Apple ID settings for you.
- Scroll down until you see a list of devices linked to your Apple ID. Your iPad should be there if it’s using the same Apple ID as your iPhone.
- Tap on “Messages”.
- Look for “Text Message Forwarding”.
- If your iPad is listed, you’ll see a switch next to it. Turn that switch off. This stops your iPad from getting new text messages from your iPhone.
Important Note:
Turning off text forwarding won’t delete any messages already on your iPad. If you want to get rid of those, you’ll need to delete them manually from the Messages app on your iPad. Just open the app, select the messages you want to delete, and swipe them away.
Taking Control!
By following these steps, you can keep your iPhone texts separate from your iPad. This gives you more control over your messages and keeps things organized. Whether you want to keep your devices independent or just simplify things, turning off text forwarding is a breeze!
Now go forth and conquer your message clutter! Texting on your iPad will be a more personalized experience from now on.
